The Last Jedi Action Figure Range

“Never. I’ll never turn to the Dark Side. You have failed, Your Highness. I am a Jedi, like my father before me.” Luke Skywalker — Star Wars: Return of the Jedi

Being a collector, habitually checking the toy aisle at each and every outlet across the country is all too often an exercise in futility. The endless searching is often thwarted by a genuine lack of stock, or the over stocking of THAT abundant figure that nobody wants!

I’m looking at you Constable Zuvio!

Nowadays, when it comes to Star Wars our appetite is catered for by the annual Force Friday event in which the latest range of merchandise from the new movie hits the shelves. Fans queue for hours on end, all in the hope of getting their hands on the new Jedi Master Luke Skywalker, or the repackaged Han Solo.

The clock is ticking…

Force Friday II has been confirmed for a worldwide release on September 1st with outlets opening their doors at midnight for the fans to claim the long-awaited action figures from the latest sequel, Star Wars: The Last Jedi. And yet, in some corners of the universe, the Force is strong, and fantastical discovery has been found. In a small town, just outside of London, England…the first wave of action figures from The Last Jedi has been found for sale on the shelves…and this writer found them!

I was amazed to find the brand-new Rey, Kylo Ren, Finn, Poe Dameron, Stormtrooper and Jedi Master Luke Skywalker waiting for me on my local supermarket shelf…a week before the scheduled worldwide release date! As if they were under the influence of the Force, they fluttered into my basket before I charged toward the checkout and paid for them.

And it gives me great pleasure to share these first close-up images with my readers:

JEDI MASTER LUKE SKYWALKER

Mark Hamill’s Luke Skywalker

REY — JEDI TRAINING

Daisy Ridley’s Rey

FINN — RESISTANCE FIGHTER

John Boyega’s Finn

POE DAMERON — RESISTANCE PILOT

Poe Dameron

FIRST ORDER STORMTROOPER

First Order Stormtrooper

KYLO REN

Adam Driver’s Kylo Ren

In a word…WOW!

These figures are exceptional, and I think you will agree that toy manufacturer Hasbro have outdone themselves with the new facial sculpts for Rey, Finn, Poe and Kylo Ren. The only detraction is the finished representation of Jedi Master Luke Skywalker. The facial rendering on the long-awaited figure leaves a lot to be desired, with very little resemblance to the great Mark Hamill, and considering we have endured a two-year wait for this figure…the reward is a little underwhelming. However, that is a small price to pay for finding them on the shelves a week in advance of the rest of the world.
