This week at a glance…

It has been a subtle week in the Star Wars universe, with the euphoric tidal wave of momentum from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story finally fading into the ether, attention has turned to the surging anticipation of Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi. This week, the UK viewers were FINALLY treated to the welcome return of Star Wars Rebels Season 3 on Disney XD with enthralling episode “Warhead” that found Zeb placed in command of Chopper Base.

Returning guest writer Megan continued with her quest to transport us to the galaxy far, far away with the second instalment of her review of the Star Wars: A New Hope radio drama and found excitement within.

In a change from his traditional material, Future of the Force News Editor Phil Roberts inhaled the laughing gas as he took a closer look at Mark Hamill’s epic performance as The Joker in Batman: The Animated Series and discovered the incredible story of his casting.

And so, we enter the weekly review with a combination of excitement and hope. The force is with us, but the last laugh is on us…

STAR WARS: A NEW HOPE — RADIO DRAMA

Returning guest writer Megan pressed the play button on the A New Hope radio drama and allowed the vocal talents of Mark Hamill and Anthony Daniels to transport her to a galaxy far, far away. The second chapter in her in depth review proved to be a magical affair with the arrival of fan favourite character Biggs Darklighter. Focussing on his incredible and character building repartee with Luke Skywalker in Tosche Station, she discovered a connection between them that the cinematic version barely scratched the surface of. Check out Megan’s stunning recollection here:

THE CLOWN PRINCE OF CRIME

This week, Future of the Force News Editor Phil Roberts took a closer look at Star Wars legend Mark Hamill. Instead of focussing his attention on his sublime role as Luke Skywalker, Phil delved into the mythology of the DC universe and investigated his iconic role as The Joker in Batman: The Animated Series. A sniff of the laughing gas later and our intrepid reviewer was chuckling with delight as he relived Hamill’s casting as the clown prince of crime. Read along if you dare, but be warned…the last laugh will be on you…

ROGUE ONE WAVE 4 FIRST LOOK

This week, Star Wars action figure manufacturer Hasbro offered us our first look at the next wave of figures from their Rogue One range. With characters like Admiral Raddus, Fenn Rau, Galen Erso, Lieutenant Sefla and “Space Monkey” Bistan amongst them, there is a figure to excite every fan from every quadrant of the Outer Rim territories. Check out these stunning images:

And finally, …

ROGUE ONE WAVE 3 HITS DISCOUNT

This week, UK retailer Tesco shocked us all by stocking the third wave of action figures from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. In past weeks, these amazing figures have been restricted to the import chains but that all changed this week. Bolstering this fantastic news was the Walmart owned UK retailer Asda. Not only did the supermarket giant stock these exciting new figures, but they discounted them to as little as £6 for the Death Trooper, Scarif Trooper and Jyn Erso (Imperial Disguise) and just £2.25 for Bodhi Rook. Unfortunately, Grand Admiral Thrawn was not amongst their number confirming the fans worst fears that his incarnation will be the hardest figure of the wave to track down.

Star Wars: Rogue One Wave 3 Action Figures

It was another fantastic week for the Future of the Force team, from the A New Hope radio drama to inhaling the laughing gas with Mark Hamill and The Joker, the team are covering every angle unearthed within the Star Wars universe and tackling the hottest subjects head on. Only the force knows what lies ahead of us in the coming weeks but rest assured, the Future of the Force team will be on the front lines bringing you the best Star Wars content from across the Outer Rim territories and beyond…

Until then…
