This week at a glance…

It’s been quite a week in the Star Wars universe. With the release of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story only a few short weeks away, the Future of the Force team have been priming themselves for the inevitable tidal wave of momentum that is due envelope us all when the movie hits our screens. With all new movie clips being released at every turn it truly is an exciting time to be a Star Wars fan, and with the adventures of Jyn Erso and Orson Krennic on the brink of arrival, it is hard to curtail the hype.

So why resist?

Into the fray we go…

Phil Roberts got the week under way with his inside look into the amazing interactive spectacle of the Star Wars Identities exhibition at the O2 Arena. The adventure through the maze of exhibits was enough to send him into an unrivalled excitement that he chose to share with us. Read his insights here:

Reviews:
The Future of the Force team’s review of Star Wars Rebels season three continued this week which saw regular contributor Thomas Storaï return to the fold. His in depth analysis of episode 3.9 “The Wynkahthu Job” was worthy of the great Hondo Ohnaka himself and he shared it with us here:

Future of the Force co-founder Stewart Gardiner immersed himself amongst the pages of the sublime Pablo Hidalgo art book, Star Wars Propaganda and fell in love with the incredible plethora of images contained within. The amazing artwork was enough to take even his breath away and he shared his enthusiasm with us here:

This week Radio Ryloth, our resident champion of Star Wars female culture offered her insights into the gender imbalance involved in the manufacturing process of the galaxy far, far away. She addressed the desperate search for a female director and offered us rejuvenated hope for the future when forging new ground in years to come. Check out her open letter here:

With Rogue One just around the corner, AndrewinBelfast appraised the role of the Dark Lord of the Sith himself in the evolving narrative of the saga from Prequel to Sequel and beyond. Darth Vader has been the quintessential villain of modern cinema for almost forty years and with Rogue One offering us a new chapter in his story, Andrew embraced nostalgia to give us a window into the legend of his tragic story. Phil Roberts raided the darkest recesses of his action figure collection and located an item close to his heart. Unearthing the latest offering from the Disney Store Exclusive Elite Series range, he dared to open the box and removed his beloved Force Awakens die cast Han Solo from its cardboard prison. Was the figure on par with the Black Series incarnation, or was it yet another let down of expressionless faces and horrendous pink lipstick? Only Phil knows…read his review here:

The fantastic team at Electronic Arts offered us our first look at the incredible downloadable content from the Star Wars Battlefront Rogue One pack set to take place on the planet Scarif. The breath-taking images of the incredible gameplay offered us our first glimpse of Jyn Erso, Orson Krennic, the AT-ACT Walkers, Tie Strikers and even the impressive troop transportable U-Wing fighter. Check out the trailer here and brace yourself for battle when the content arrives for season pass holders on the December 6th.

And finally…

This week Radio Ryloth dared to open the debate on which Star Wars character staples would make a appearance in this December’s Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. From Clone Captain Rex to Ahsoka Tano, no character was off the table and she afforded us a glimpse at a selection of her top picks. See if you agree with her choices here:

It was another fantastic week for the Future of the Force team, from Star Wars Rebels to action figures and events to characterisations, the team are covering every angle unearthed within the Star Wars universe.
